Hi!
Recently I have installed WFW 3.11 in a 386DX PC with 8MB RAM.
This PC has a NE2000 compatible net card and is connected to a Windows 98SE PC.
The protocol installed is NETBEUI.
When one uses the Win98 PC, one can access WFW files and can transfer/copy/delete/rename files with the WFW machine.
But, if uses the WFW machine, and try to "Connect to a Net drive" in the File Mananger, the old WFW PC reboots instantly.
Any clues?
PC has DOS 6.22 installed. Disk is 612 MB. Two partitions: C: is 470 MB,
D: is 142 MB. Ontrack Disk Manager used. Disk access is 16 bits. File access is 16 bits.
No 32-bit Ontrack driver installed.

I thought about your net card causing some kind of memory or IRQ conflict. Does the problem only occur when you try to access network drives, or also with local drives?

Ciao, Gaby

Problem solved!

No problem with local drives. When I try to map a Win98 PC disk,
the computer crashes (reboots or hangs, sometimes show "Memory parity error"
and hangs).
The TCP/IP protocol was not installed.

With TCP/IP installed, the net works fine.

I have installed latest version of TCP/IP protocol for Windows 3.1
and now we can see/read/modify/write files located in the Windows 98
machine. I think that TCP/IP installation have solved the problem.

Also have made a HOSTS file in C:/windows in order to assign IPs and machines.

I have also installed Win32s 1.3 and have replaced localized (Spain)
versions with newer English version of files. I dont' know if this
was related with the original network problem, maybe not.

Bye!
